FC Spartak is the most popular and the most successful club of Russia with the supporters all over the world.
It's rich history starts at 1922. Spartak has won 12 Soviet and 10 Russian Championships, 10 USSR Cups, the "gladiators" are also 3 times Champions of Russia, have won 6 Commonwealth Cups and the Super Cup of Russia.
Recently the team has won it's 10th Championship in the 2016/17 season, having overcome their nearest rival for 7 points. In 2017 the Spartak players have completed their trofey collection with the Super Cup of Russia beating their opponents of the Moscow Locomotive.
FC Spartak hosts it's rivals at the newest stadium Otkritie Arena, the home stadium also for the Confederation Cup matches and the World Championship 2018.
In 1936 at the Spartak's school there was created the group for the talented young players, in 1958 the school has received the status of the Youth Sports school. 18 years later it was reorganized into SDUSHOR (Sport Youth school of Olympic Reserve).
On the 15th of October 2009 FC Spartak together with the Lukoil company has opened the new football center which is second to none in Moscow.
It was recognized as the Academy and was named after the legendary Spartak player Fyodor Cherenkov.
The Spartak Academy is composed of 10 teams: categories from the U-8 through to the U-17. Actually 200 young players train at the Academy's center.
The Academy stands out for it's unique achievement: 5 times in a row (2014–2018) the winners of the most competitive Youth Championships in Russia — the summer Championship of Moscow. 6 trainees of the Academy are the players of the FC Spartak first team in Russian Premier League, 14 are playing for Spartak-2 (National Football League) and 14 for the red&whites Youth team. Also the Academy is the leading one in Russia considering the number of it's graduates in professional teams through the years.
30 players of the Spartak Academy have been part of the respective National teams in 2018, 8 of them of the Youth team.
The team which represents the Academy this year in Spartak Cup, players born in 2002, will complete their education in 2020. Spartak 2002 is a plural medal awarder of winter and summer Moscow Championships, the winner of the Moscow Cup and Champion of Russia. The team has taken part in many important international tournaments, Memorial Flavio Protti, Kazachenok Cup, Memorial Stefano Gusella, CFA U-15 Men's Championship, Torneo Cesaraugusta just to mention some.
In 2019 the team of Vyacheslav Vashkevich has finished the winter Championship on the 4th place and has won the silver medals of the summer Championship of the capital. Besides the red&whites has taken part in 3 important international tournaments. At the Al Kass International Cup in Qatar the "gladiators" have finished on the 6th position with their captain Golyatov outscoring 7 goals (4 in the match against Real Madrid) making him the best scorer. Later on the Spartak U17 team has won the silver medals at the Future Champions tournament in South Africa, after the dramatic penalties in the final against Orlando Pirates. But the next gained medals were the gold ones in China — with the Spartak team winning the Evergrande Cup. The intense final against argentinian Banfield finished in a draw 2-2, but in the penalties the Spartak players were stronger with 4 -2 of the final score.
The 3rd of August 2019 the U17 team of the Academy has started a new tournament — the National Championship — Youth Football League, as a preliminary for the UEFA Youth League. Several times 11 players of the team has been called to their respective national teams in different age categories. The list
of the team for the Spartak Cup comprises the players from the U16 as Spartak's 2003 team is also an award winner of russian championships and international tournaments.
