About club:

Atalanta B.C. is Bergamo’s football team since 1907. The Club won the Coppa Italia in 1963 and was named the "Queen of the provincial teams" as the Club with the highest number of partecipations (this August will start the 59th championship "Serie A" edition) in the Top national division as a club not based in a regional capital city.

In the last season Atalanta reached his history top result, ranking at the third place in Serie A and qualifying for the next UEFA Champions League. The team is managed by Gian Piero Gasperini and have several international players like Alejandro Papu Gomez, Josip Ilicic and Duvan Zapata.

The Youth Department has been always of a special importance for a Club's history. The Club's philosophy is to raise young guys paying special importance to their personal development and then as the professional athlets.

Many top players  has been formed in the club, like Gaetano Scirea or Roberto Donadoni, marking their presence in the top International Leagues and also in the last years  several players grown up in  the Atalanta Youth Department joined Italian Premier League clubs as F.C. Internazionale Milan (Roberto Gagliardini) or A.C. Milan (Giacomo Bonaventura, Mattia Caldara, Andrea Conti).

The Atalanta’s Chairman Antonio Percassi is a former player: coming  from the Atalanta Youth Department he became the captain of the first team.

Actually the Academy counts over 400 players  from U8 to U19 categories and all the teams train and play in Atalanta Training Center called "Centro Bortolotti",  in Zingonia (20 km away from Bergamo).

In the current 18/19 season  Atalanta U19 Team won the Championship title winning the final match against F.C. Internazionale Milan.

The season 2018-2019 the U17 team has finished at the second place in the "Under 17 Serie A e B" National group stage coming  directly to the quarters of final.

Atalanta resulted the team who scored most goals in their group (64 goals) and the best scorer of the team were Alassane Sidibe (Ivorian citizen) and Lukas Vorlicky, (Czech citizen), with 13 goals.

On the quarter of final, Atalanta has won the matches against F.C. Juventus with a great 4-0 at home and a sedure 3-1 in the return leg in Turin. On the semi-final instead Atalanta was beaten by F.C. Internazionale Milan who won, then, the Final Title too.

In march 2019 Atalanta U17 has won the most important U17 tournament: "Trofeo Beppe Viola" beating A.C. Milan in the final.

During the last season several players of the team were called to the respective U17 national teams: Simone Panada (Italy), Angelo Pisoni (Italy) Matus Repa (Slovakia) Matteo Ruggeri (Italy), Edoardo Scanagatta (Italy) Lukas Vorlicky (Czech Republic). Panada, as a captain, and Ruggeri, were also called for the last European Championship.

Giovanni Bosi was the last season Manager, while in the season 2019-2020 Stefano Lorenzi will manage the team in the U18 championship. Lorenzi is at his eights year as a manager in the Atalanta youth Department, the third in a row with U18 team.

Lorenzi, 42 years old, is an Atalanta former player too: he was a central back defender, formed in the youth department until the debut with the first team in Serie A.
