Mentees of our Academy born in the year of 1996 tied the game with Scottish Celtic in the opening match of Spartak Cup international junior tournament – 1:1.

To support young footballers in the inaugural match of the prestigious tournament club CEO Roman Askhabadze, core team coach Dmitry Gunko and tutors of the youth of the red and whites Vasiliy Kulkov and Andrey Pyatnitsky came to Academy’s stadium. Also veterans of our club Academy President Sergey Rodionov, Rinat Dasayev and Boris Pozdnyakov observed the match.  

The teams haven’t disappointed the eminent spectators and demonstrated engrossing football. At the beginning of the game the footballers decided to conduct offensive reconnaissance, the first shot on goal was made by the Scottish footballers, however Mitryushin performed masterfully. Literally in the next attack Spartak club members succeeded.  A Celtic guard brought the ball right to Panteleev’s foot, who was close to the penalty area. Vladislav kicked without skipping a beat – after the rebound the ball flew into the net. Bakeev could have doubled the score, but Zelimkhan’s mid-range shot was slightly above the gates. At the end of the half the game shifted to host team’s half of the field: unnecessary fouls caused dangerous situations close to Mitryushin’s gates, luckily for our team the guests failed to gain nothing from such moments.     

Immediately after the start of the second half Akhmaev lost an excellent chance, he nearly touched the ball after partner’s pass. Nine minutes prior to the game end the guests managed to conduct the successful attack. In the middle of the field guard Ivanushkin failed in the dog-fight, other Spartak guys didn’t cope to run supporting action, and the Celtic player entered the penalty area without any special impediments and passed the ball to his partner, who left no chance to Mitryushin. Upon conceding the goal our footballers rushed to restore their dominance and succeeded to create a series of goal mouth actions. Yuriev could have scored two goals, and Babaev, who brightly outplayed several opponents and kicked to the far corner, wasn’t precise enough. 1:1 – bitter score draw of mentees of Vladimir Dzhubanov and Dmitry Ratnikov.
