About Academy:

Work with young talents has been always decisive in the history of Borussia Monchengladbach. After five victories of the team in German Championship and two UEFA Cups in the 1970s a legendary term Fohlenelf" ("11 colts") appeared. Such name was awarded to Borussia, because the team was composed of very young footballers, who behaved in the field in a quite peculiar manner.

This is an underlying approach of the new philosophy of Borussia football. Not to resurrect the history, but because the club believes that such style of playing may bring success and be attractive for spectators. Of course, Borussia’s philosophy formulation process takes into consideration new trends in football development, but the basic principles of those successful for the club years are still unvarying. Development of club’s own talents used to be and remains one of key objectives of Borussia.
