About Academy:

Spartak has been involved in young talent development since 1934 – exactly at that time the club created first junior teams. Over these years Spartak school has brought up numerous bright footballers, who have played for Spartak and in USSR/Russia national teams.

An important milestone in the contemporary history of Spartak school is its acquisition of Academy status. Since 2010 its full name is Spartak Football Academy named after Fyedor Cherenkov. The establishment of the Academy would have been impossible without appropriate infrastructure: on October 15, 2009 FC Spartak together with LUKOIL opened the new unique football facility in Sokolniki that had no analogues in Moscow.

Thanks to annual contributions of club owner Leonid Arnoldovich Fedun young Spartak members have been improving their football skills in the outstanding facilities. There are 6 football fields at their disposal, including 2 with under floor heating, refurbished manege of FC Spartak, gym facility, sauna, hall to conduct theoretical classes, sports area with tennis-ball site and special goalkeeper corner, where young goalkeepers can train personally.

On the same site in Sokolniki a hostel for footballers from other cities is built, it can accommodate 50 people. At present around 40 Spartak students reside here. These guys are the best young players, who have come to Spartak from various cities of Russia. As enormous funds and human resources are invested in these, footballers from other cities are invited to Spartak and live in the hostel only if they are far superior to their Moscow peers.

The continuity of generations is an underlying approach of Academy operations. The Academy is named after Fyedor Cherenkov – the most popular alumnus of Spartak school, exceptional player, who has made tremendous contribution to Spartak history. Fyedor Fyedorovich together with other club veterans is involved in competitive selections of boys, who seek to join ranks of the red and whites. The Academy is headed by Sergey Rodionov – graduate of our school and Spartak veteran, who has been coaching club’s core and substitute teams. Today Eugene Sidorov, Victor Samokhin, Yury Darvin, Alexander Shuplyakov, Andrey Pyatnitsky, Alexey Meleshin and Vladimir Beschastnykh teach footfall proficiency secrets to future champions.

Overall, our Academy is staffed with 21 coaches, including senior coach, technique coach, 2 fitness coachers, 3 goalkeeper coachers and specialists, who deal with 12 age-based teams. Two coaches work with a single team. Each of specialists, in his turn, is responsible for two ages: he serves as a senior coach for one age category and as an assistant for the other category. At the Academy the training process is based on multiyear preparation cycle principle.

Annually Academy alumni replenish Spartak junior team that is a record-holder in terms of subsequently won championships of substitute tournaments.

Spartak alumni play in each of Russia national teams – starting from the youngest junior team to the national team.

Academy teams have been successfully playing at Russian and international competitions. Several times a year each of Academy teams participates at foreign tournaments, where it meets with representatives from English, Spanish, Italian, German, Portuguese and French top clubs. Often our young footballers return to Moscow not only with champion cups, but also with Fair Play prizes and individual awards. As far as Russian tournaments are concerned, our guys won the last major competition – Russia Junior Championship for footballers born in the year of 1994 - held in autumn 2011. And as for the major capital-city tournament – Moscow-2011 Summer Championship – Spartak Academy became the best in club placing.
